How To: Make Glowing Cloud Lights For Your Next Creative Photoshoot

HOW TO MAKE GLOWING CLOUD LIGHTS FOR YOUR CREATIVE PHOTOSHOOT πŸŒ«πŸ¦„πŸ’•πŸ’›

Lockdown craziness aside, I have really been loving all of the extra time to be creative these last 9 months. I really enjoy making fun things just for the sake of it, without worrying about any client feedback! πŸ˜‰

Last week, I created glowing cloud lights for an at-home birthday photoshoot. Making a cloud light is such an easy project and it’s a great way to add some visual interest to a room or magic to your next photoshoot!

Here’s how I did it:

Supplies You’ll Need:

  • paper lanterns
  • glue gun + glue
  • cotton or pillow fluff
  • fishing wire & wall tacks
  • string lights
  • Background sheet (optional)

πŸ¦„ I got an array of white paper lanterns, in various sizes. I ordered them online, but you can find them at party stores or dollar/pound stores.

πŸ’›I got some pillow fluff, a glue gun, and glue.

☁I popped open the lanterns, put a little bit of hot glue on it at a time, and then a bit of fluff at a time. Be careful not to burn yourself when pressing fluff down onto the glue. Repeat for each cloud.

🌸I got some battery operated twinkly lights to hang in each cloud. I found that you need to use 3 for the bigger clouds, so they really glow. I added a black sheet behind the clouds to make the glow more prominent.

😘I got a tall person to hang these for me with fishing wire and pins. Thanks Nik.

πŸ“ΈGet ready for some practice shots! I used a tripod and then tried natural light and darkness to find the vibe I wanted. I also tried holding up some cloud fluff in front of the camera for extra fun.

🌈If you want to, use photoshop or photo editing apps to boost the colours and make it even more fun! I added a fake galaxy background and color overlays to mine! Here are my finished photos!

πŸŽ‰TADA- you’re done! Post and/or enjoy!
